LAW ENFORCEMENT
Senator Saland understands the
importance of public safety. Feeling
safe in your community is essential to
your quality of life. Senator Saland
works closely with our local law
enforcement agencies and they know they
can count on him to secure funding to
better protect you and your family.
Senator Saland has secured approximately
$2,155,290 in grants for local police
and county sheriffs to provide our
communities with essential equipment to
combat and investigate crime.
For years, district attorneys have come
to Senator Saland to sponsor key
legislation to fight crime and enhance
penalties because they know he can get
the job done. Senator Saland has
sponsored numerous laws which help to
put rapists, identity thieves and drunk
drivers behind bars.
Senator Saland authored the Family
Protection and Domestic Violence
Prevention Law, considered to be the
most significant domestic violence bill
enacted in the State's history. In
addition, he has led the fight in
passing laws strengthening orders of
protection and protecting child
witnesses when testifying.
Coming to Albany with extensive legal
experience in child abuse cases,
protecting you and your children has
been a long-standing commitment for
Senator Saland. He has brought to the
Legislature a voice representing the
most vulnerable population - our
children.
